Points of interest

  • PASSEIG DE GRÀCIA:
The most luxurious avenue of Barcelona, home to the most distinctive examples of Catalan Modernist architecture. Marvel at the surprising façades of Gaudí’s famous houses (Casa Batlló and Milà, also known as la Pedrera). Discover the "apple of discord" - the word "manzana" (apple) also meaning, "block of houses" in Spanish.

  • EIXAMPLE DISTRICT:
This district was designed by Ildefons Cerdà after 1859, when authorities approved his plan to expand the city. (The word “Eixample” actually means “expansion” in Catalan!) Cerdà’s idea of urban planning was revolutionary and utopian, a fact you will observe directly while walking through the streets of this elegant neighborhood.

  • SAGRADA FAMILIA:
Perhaps the most emblematic landmark of Barcelona. There are no words to describe the feeling one gets when entering this magnificent temple of Modernism. The organic shapes found throughout its structure, the light filtering through its stained glass windows and the symbolic nature of the building’s sculpted façade will probably be the highlight of this tour (if not of your whole stay in Barcelona!)

  • WATERFRONT:
Over time, Barcelona´s coast has always adapted to the needs of the city’s people. Its latest architecture is best represented by the World Trade Center and the converted Old Port. The Old Port is now full of fantastic shops, restaurants and nightclubs, while still maintaining the charm of its past. Around the coast you will also find the Columbus Monument and the beautiful Gothic building of the Drassanes.

  • MONTJUÏC MOUNTAIN:
Originally used as a strategic place from which to defend the city against attack, this impressive mountain borders the Mediterranean Sea. From its summit you will enjoy fantastic views of the Barcelona skyline. The mountain is home to several buildings that perfectly exemplify modern art and contemporary architecture. These include the sport facilities belonging to the Olympic Ring, as well as museums like the Miró Foundation and Caixa Fòrum. You will also discover examples of urbanism and architecture specially designed for the International Exhibition of 1929.

  • OLD TOWN: This is where the history of Barcelona first started. In Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella you will find a harmonious mix of modernity with Roman and medieval imprints right in the city center. Learn all about Barcelona’s origins and about some of the most fascinating Catalan traditions. Explore the charming corners, picturesque plazas and narrow alleys of the Gothic Quarter. We especially recommend a visit to Plaça Sant Jaume and the famous Cathedral.

Tour Description

Enjoy the pick up service, offered by your guide, at your accommodation in Barcelona. Sit back, relax and tour the city with a private vehicle for you and a friendly small group of maximum eight guests.
Explorethe city and La Sagrada Familia. We offer the exclusive opportunity to skip the line at Sagrada Familia in order to save precious time.
Hear fascinating stories about the city’s one-of-a-kind architecture, culture and history.
Begin in Plaça Catalunya, Barcelona’s central square. The plaza connects to the avenue Passeig de Grácia, which features some of the best examples of Catalan architecture. Take a moment to admire the striking façades of private Modernist buildings, among them Gaudí´s famous La Pedrera. Next, arrive at the “Illa Discordia Barcelona” (Barcelona’s “Block of Discord”), which not only includes Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, but also the Casa Lleó - Morera and Casa Ametller.
Follow the footsteps of Gaudí, exploring l’Eixample neigborhood. This district was designed in the 19th century by urban planner Ildefons Cerdà. It became an extension of the Old Town, as part of an orderly expansion strategy for the city. After visiting the majestic Hospital de Sant Pau, continue to another one of Gaudí’s masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. Admire the different parts of the building and the many examples of religious symbolism hidden in its unique façades. You are sure to be captivated by Gaudi’s incredible architectural style: the peculiar shape of the columns, ceilings, walls and the organic architecture of the basilica.
After some time at the Sagrada Familia, continue towards the Mediterranean Sea. Along the way, pass by the Plaza de Toros Monumental and contemporary Agbar Tower, the newest reference point for Barcelona´s stunning skyline. Reach the breezy Bogatell Beach, and walk down along the coast through Port Vell (the Old Port). Continue along the port, pass the Gothic Drassanes and Columbus Monument, and walk down the iconic La Rambla and ending up at the brand-new World Trade Center.
From here, head to Montjuïc Mountain where your guide will point out the Mirador de l'Alcalde, a beautiful terrace with wonderful views of Barcelona’s iconic skyline.
The Mountain of Montjuïc was once the main venue of the 1992 Olympics. Nowadays, you can still admire the Olympic Stadium, which was originally built in 1929 and was later remodeled for the Olympics. Encounter plenty of examples of urbanism and architecture designed specially for the International Exhibition of 1929.
