Points of interest

  • MONTJUÏC MOUNTAIN:
Originally a strategic place to defend the city, it rises along a steep slope beside the sea. Its summit affords a commanding view of the Barcelona skyline.
It also houses reference buildings of modern art and contemporary architecture, such as the sport facilities belonging to the Olympic Ring or museums, such as the Miró Foundation and the Caixa Forum. We also find examples of urban development and architecture designed for the International Exposition of 1929.

  • WATERFRONT:
Barcelona's coast has adapted to the time and needs of the people. Today, you see the very latest architecture, represented by the World Trade Center and the converted Old Port. The Old Port is full of shops, restaurants and nightclubs and contains a charming imprint of the past as well. You can also witness the Columbus Monument or the beautiful Gothic building of the Drassanes.

  • OLD TOWN:
This is where it all started. Here, the Roman and medieval imprints are mixed with the modernity in the center of the city. You will learn about the origins of Barcelona and many of the Catalan traditions and its culture. Within the Gothic Quarter you can explore landmarks such as Plaça Sant Jaume and the famous Cathedral.

  • PASSEIG DE GRÀCIA:
The most opulent and luxurious street of Barcelona, which reveals Barcelona´s most distinctive architecture, Catalan modernism. Marvel at the surprising façades of Gaudi’s houses (Casa Batlló and Milà, also known as la Pedrera) and discover the ‘apple of discord’ – the word ‘manzana’ (apple) also means `a city block in Spanish.

  • EIXAMPLE DISTRICT:
This district was laid out by Ildefons Cerda. His plan was approved by the authorities in 1859 in order to expand the city (Eixample is the Catalan word for expansion). His vision of urban development was revolutionary and utopian. In this newly developed area of Barcelona Gaudí built his masterpiece, the Basilica of La Sagrada Familia.

Tour Description

If you have little time to discover the many sides of this multifaceted city, we recommend this tour. Savor all the different experiences that cosmopolitan Barcelona has to offer. Get picked up by your guide at your accommodation in Barcelona and enjoy a private vehicle for you and a small group of maximum 8 guests. This is the best choice for you to see the city´s main highlights within half a day.
First, admire Barcelona’s skyline from Montjuïc Mountain. See the Mirador de l'Alcalde, a terrace that offers the most spectacular views over Barcelona´s skyline.
On this same mountain, explore venues dating back to the 1992 Olympics such as the remodeled Olympic Stadium, from 1929 and the Palau Sant Jordi, built by Arata Isozaki. Witness urban planning and architecture designed for the International Exposition of 1929, such as the Plaça Espanya, inspired by St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, the Barcelona Pavilion or the National Palace.
Afterwards, descend the mountain to reach the waterfront, which is situated on the Mediterranean Sea. From there, drive to the brand new World Trade Center, the Gothic Drassanes and Columbus Monument near the signature promenade of Barcelona, La Rambla and ending at Port Vell (the Old Port).
From the port, continue walking up Via Laietana, on its left is the Old Town. Stop at the grand Cathedral Square to admire the magnificent Gothic Cathedral with its Gothic Revival façade. You will also have the opportunity to peek into some beautiful hidden corners of the Roman and medieval city. Admire the remains of the Roman times, followed by the impressive Jewish Quarter and the well-conserved Gothic Quarter, known throughout the world.
After visiting the Old Town, the stark contrasts of Barcelona will be displayed on the street with the most distinctive Catalan architecture, Passeig de Grácia. Here, find some of the most striking façades of Modernist buildings, among them Antoni Gaudí´s masterpieces, like La Pedrera. Next, arrive at the 'Apple of Discord', a city block which includes Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, along with the Casa Lleó - Morera and Casa Ametller.
The last stop of the tour is Eixample district, laid out by Ildefons Cerdà as an extension of the Old Town, for the orderly growth of the city. Drive through the neatly arranged streets to reach an area which boasts the Hospital de Sant Pau.
